Dr. Minna Rose Chung

Minna Rose Chung is Associate Professor of Cello at the University of Manitoba, Desautels Faculty of Music and performs internationally as recitalist, chamber musician, and orchestral member of the Munich Symphony Orchestra on international tours.

In addition, Dr. Chung has co-authored a critical pedagogy method book entitled “CelloMind- Intonation and Technique” for publication in 2017. Upon her arrival in Canada, she was quickly reviewed as “a bright light on the Winnipeg music scene, her intelligent musicality and rich resonance a wonderful addition to any ensemble, devoted and playing with admirable gusto! ” (Winnipeg Free Press).

Dr. Chung has been a returning guest to several international music festivals, including the historic Meadowmount School of Music in New York, Canadian International Cello Festival, Santo Domingo Music Festival, Rio International Cello Encounter, and the Piracicaba Music Festival outside of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Minna Rose earned her Bachelor of Music in Cello performance at Oberlin Conservatory; Masters of Music at Northwestern University Bienen School of Music with Hans J. Jensen; and her Doctor of Musical Arts at SUNY Stony Brook University with world- renowned soloist, Colin Carr.
